75 CHROs were asked: What’s one word you’d use to describe your top priority as an HR leader this coming year? Attendees at The Conference Board’s CHRO summit, in NYC last month answered unequivocally:

AI. Change. Leadership. Talent. Growth. Transformation.

I was honored to be invited to share my thoughts on a Panel about Valence’s belief that AI-powered coaching is going to truly democratize the idea of personalized support at scale, enabling companies to offer a “work coach” to each and every leader and employee.

My fellow panelists and I discussed enterprise readiness and three use cases, bringing a practical path forward that resonated with the CHROs.

Enterprise readiness begins with explorations.

All three CHROs joining me were clear in their belief that Enterprises must begin exploring quickly. It’s crucial to begin to get solutions into users hands, and to get their feedback. The three principles we discussed were:

  • Intent: Is the use case one that employees could get excited about?
  • Security: Does the provider have a track record of building enterprise grade software?
  • AI-Councils: Can the provider help you (in HR) navigate the new layers of AI Councils whose approval is required?

Luckily, Valence is particularly well positioned with AI-councils, having been green-lit by over 50 of them in the first 6 months of this year.

An interesting use case

We talked about the new idea of AAA coaching - for All, for Anything, at Anytime - which is what users have repeatedly responded so well to - the feeling of being supported in their particular challenge of the moment.

But layered on top of that, talent functions have a number of moments that matter to them. One interesting moment for talent leaders was the ability for an AI coach to support leaders through the difficult performance management conversations that happen once or twice a year.

We have a number of customers who have created customized scenarios within Valence’s AI coach, and who are getting great results from their users about having a safe space to practice.

We have over a dozen different use cases live across our customers, and will be sharing more insights in the weeks to come.
